At DVL Marketing, we understand the challenges small businesses face because we’ve been exactly where you are.
My husband, Dave, is a Veteran who, after leaving the military, spent his career as a police officer, dedicated to serving and protecting our community. I devoted mine to home health care. Both of our careers required patience, compassion, and genuine connection. Throughout our careers, we’ve always been driven by one thing: helping others.
A few years ago, we retired from our careers and thought we’d try something new. We bought a drive-thru espresso stand. “How hard can it be?” we wondered. We love coffee, after all! We quickly discovered that making the perfect latte was the easy part. Getting to know our customers and building those daily relationships—that brought us joy and felt natural given our backgrounds in service.
But then came the part no one warns you about: social media marketing.
We had no idea how to effectively promote our business online. It took an entire year of working every single day to learn how to competently manage our Facebook business page, Instagram, and Google Business profile. We spent countless hours figuring out effective posting strategies, learning to create ads, and writing compelling copy. It was stressful, overwhelming, and honestly, one of the hardest things We had ever tackled.
After two years, we sold the espresso stand, but we couldn’t shake the desire of wanting to continue serving others. That’s when it hit us: the most challenging part of running our business wasn’t the product or the service—it was learning how to market it effectively.
That realization sparked the birth of DVL Marketing.
